ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION FOR YOUTH ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS HELD ON THURSDAY 12TH OCTOBER, 2017 by 9A.M at AMERICAN CORNER, KANO – NIGERIA.
The sole objective of the discussion was to enlighten the general public particularly youth on the need for successful implementation of sustainable development goals within our societies and the significant role youth play towards the achievement of these goals. There where presentations from the participants including Rufa’I, the CEO of Digital Development Hub, who presented a paper on “Sub Sahara Africa and SGDs”. Also among the presenters was Prof. M.B Shehu of Bayero University Kano made a presentation on “Know Your Goals”.
The discussion was quite interactive as participants made relevant contributions citing 21st century experiences. The setting also encouraged for a clearer understanding of the theme as every participant preferred solutions as to way forward and how to create an all-inclusive society I the struggle for a successful implementation of SDGs.
The topic is original and useful; it is applicable in other areas of research. It can be used to improve on the living standards of our societies. I believe if solutions suggested will be put into practice, a positive impact will be greatly felt.
I would rate the round table discussion fair as there are improvements that could be made, ranging from the organisation of the event, to topics presented and the timing of the event as well. Generally, the event was a success and we hope to achieve certain positive outcomes from the discussion.
